Wimbledon 2024: Day 3 order of play and schedule - Carlos Alcaraz, Jannik Sinner and Emma Raducanu in action - Eurosport (2024)

Day three of Wimbledon signals the beginning of the second round, where 64 players have taken a step closer to Grand Slam glory after opening victories at the All England Club.

Defending champion Carlos Alcaraz returns to action after his first-round victory over Mark Lajal, while top seed Jannik Sinner comes head-to-head with compatriot Matteo Berrettini as he bids for a maiden Wimbledon title.

Other star-studded names in action on Wednesday include Daniil Medvedev and Casper Ruud, with the former featuring on Centre Court in a match against Frenchman Alexandre Muller.

There is also a veteran battle between Stan Wawrinka and Gael Monfils as the pair, aged 39 and 37 respectively, look to continue their early runs.

As for the women's draw, Emma Raducanu will be looking to back up her first-round triumph over Renata Zarazua as she continues to enjoy her Wimbledon return, while former world No. 1 Naomi Osaka plays 19th seed Emma Navarro.

With women's defending singles winner Marketa Vondrousova already knocked out, a place has opened up for a new champion and Coco Gauff is certainly one of the names in the frame for the top prize this summer. She kick-starts the action on No. 1 Court with a match against Anca Todoni.

In the pair's only meeting before Wednesday's encounter, Sinner came out on top in straight sets when they played at the Canadian Open last year, winning 6-4 6-3.

Sinner went on to win the ATP Masters 1000 tournament and has since become a Grand Slam champion with victory at the Australian Open in January.

The 22-year-old has shot up the rankings and is competing in his first major as the world's top-ranked player, where he won his opening match against Yannick Hanfmann on Monday.

Top Women’s Match – Todoni v Gauff (2)

US Open champion Gauff is looking to go one further than her semi-final finishes at the Australian Open and French Open this season and has taken her first step after beating Caroline Dolehide on Centre Court in the opening round.

She has never surpassed the fourth round at Wimbledon and her second test of the 2024 campaign comes against a new opponent in Todoni.

Romanian Todoni, 19, came through the qualifiers and defeated Olga Danilovic in straight sets on her Grand Slam debut, but faces a tough task in her second-round match with the American.

Raducanu takes to No. 1 Court on Wednesday as she continues her campaign on home soil. Having missed last year's tournament due to injury, Raducanu will be keen to make up for lost time.

The 21-year-old has not surpassed the second round of a Grand Slam since her sensational US Open victory in 2021 and Belgium's Elise Mertens stands in her way this time in what will be a tricky test.

Elsewhere, No. 298 rank Sonay Kartal meets French player Clara Burel after victory over 29th seed Sorana Cirstea in the first round.

The only other British representative on Wednesday comes in the match between Lily Miyazaki and 14th seed Daria Kasatkina.
