As a class parent, my favorite party of the year to host is the Valentine’s Day class party. I think it’s really nice to see all the kids handing out cards to the class and making hearts and other crafts to bring home to show their parents extra love. I feel like we hear more stories than we’d like about “not so nice” things happening between kids at school. So a party in the classroom geared towards love and kindness is my kind of celebration! Also, while I typically like making Valentine’s, this year has been a little hectic in our house and I ordered some ready to go. You can check those out in the post too. Easy Class Valentine’s
I ordered all of these Valentine’s from Oriental Trading. They have so many cute “non candy” options this year. Tommy was SO excited to see that the Valentine’s for his class have trucks on them (his favorite thing) AND even more excited that they come with a shovel. These come ready to go – you don’t even have to assemble the shovel/card.
5 Valentine’s Day Class Party Crafts
1.“I’m Loopy for You” Cereal Necklaces: I think these are really fun to make in class and have the kids wear home or bring home to give their parents as a gift. For the full post + a FREE printable, click here.
2. Silly Love Bugs: for bigger kids (i’d say 1st to 4th grade) these silly love bugs are a really fun class party craft. You can bring and example or two, dump a bunch of supplies on each table and let them get creative. For full post on this craft, click here.
3. Valentine’s Day Magnets: This is a SUPER easy craft and really inexpensive. I ordered the kits from Oriental Trading and the kids just color in the hearts and you stick a magnet on the back.
4. Another really easy craft is to bring in paper and stickers and let the kids make a card to bring home to someone in their family. One year with the kindergartners, we gave them each two cards to make: one to take home and then one to send to someone in a nursing home. We collected all the cards and delivered them to a nursing home in town. They were so thrilled to get homemade cards from kids in town. Oriental Trading has great stickers and paper to order for inexpensive card making.
5. This is a fun craft that requires very few supplies: Heart People! You just need red construction paper and white paper for the arms & legs. Then let the kids create the heart’s face with markers, stickers, google eyes etc.
Last year we did Valentine’s Day Bingo and Valentine Ring Toss. Visit this post for details. Another fun game that my fellow class mom brought in last year was “Conversation Heart Relays”. The kids loved it and it was tricker than they expected! You line them up in groups like a relay race. Each team has a pair of chopsticks and a cup of conversation heart candies. Then there is an empty cup on the other end of the room/ area you are playing in for each team. They have pick up a conversation heart with the chopsticks and carry it to their cup, run back and hand the chopsticks to the next team member.

Valentine’s Day Tableware for Kids
Make the classroom look like a festive party with this cute tableware! I found all of this on Oriental Trading.com. I love the heart cups because we’ll serve water in them and then the kids can take them home (they are plastic). The teddy bears have a lolli pop in them! You can pre assemble and give as a little party favor OR have the kids assemble them during the party.
A Special Classroom Valentine Party Project
For bigger kids, a fun project for a class Valentine’s Day party is a “kindness journal” or “kindness poster”. Basically each child gets a large sheet of paper (or small journal) with their name on it. During the party, you pass them around the room and other kids write on the sheet something kind about that person. At the end of the party, each child takes home their own sheet with kind words about themselves all over it. This is something really special for them to save. I still have one that we did when I was in 7th grade. We are doing this with my daughter’s 1st grade class and I can’t wait to see how they come out!
